Who is Equine Information Systems Company?

EIS Company is a equal partnership between two people who bring very different skills to the table. My partner (Jack) and myself (Al) met on the old DRF message board 2 1/2 years ago.

My professional experience is in Computer Engineering and I knew that Thoroughbred Handicapping was a perfect place to apply the latest PC database technology. When I found out that there were Data Providers selling the Past Performance (PP) information and the Results information in electronic files, I knew that there was a potential to process Handicapping Information with computer horsepower that was not possible 5 years ago. My connection to horses and horse racing goes back to when I was a kid. I grew up in Saratoga Springs, one block from Saratoga Racecourse. I have worked jobs on the frontside and backside of the racetrack. I have a full time job in the aerospace industry and live a few hours from Saratoga. I spend my summer vacations in the backyard picnic area at Saratoga Race Course.

Jack has been a horseplayer for over 40 years. During that time he has developed a style of handicapping that is the foundation for our handicapping project. Jack uses the Internet to handicap, watch, and wager on Thoroughbred Racing daily. Unlike many horseplayers with that much experience, Jack knew that the Internet and the PC was going to change the game and he wasn't afraid to experiment with it. So when he read my "post" about my vision of using a PC database for handicapping on the old DRF message board, he "im'ed" me and said "You like to bet the horses?". Our relationship has grown from there. He began to teach me what handicapping factors are important and how to group them and weight them. I began to build Handicappers DataMine database system.

Early on, we decided to make a partnership arrangement. We agreed that we would share equally in every aspect of the project, except for wagering. Wagering is a personal thing. So we formed EIS Company, a legal partnership under New York State Law. EIS is a research and development company. Our mission is to develop Information Technology (IT) for Thoroughbred Handicapping. Desktop Racing via the Internet is the sector of the racing industry we hope to serve.
